As a teacher my entire life, I have had a brief ritual that holds my day together — for me it is that early morning cup of coffee as I sit in the silence. For others I know it is a quiet walk outside, or maybe down the hallway before the students arrive, or the two minutes form the parking lot to your classroom or office space.
This heart, soul, and joy placeholder essay represents many of the reflections I will write about in the essays for this collection where I invite you the the front porch of life! Where my cup of coffee is always waiting for me on the railing.
The PLC life is about how our rituals, and actions serve us: how the small, repeated moments in our day and week, protect our energy, and what happens in a season when we we lose our intentionality toward them.
Each essay I write will end with a prompt. As you dig into the start of this school year, here is an example of question I will leave with you:
What is a brief ritual that holds your week together right now?
I would love to hear from you! Leave your comments in the space below. Thanks!
